Privacy Policy
We need personal information about our customers to allow us to provide our services. We only collect and use this information in ways that the law allows. This page explains how we look after your information and how you can see that information.
Data Protection Act 1998
This act became law on 1 March 2000. It gives rules about how organisations like us treat information about you. It applies to written records on paper and information on computer. We are the data controller for the purposes of the act. The information we have about you
We only collect and use information about you so that we can provide services. The information we can keep includes:
- Forms you have filled in and given to us, for example, application forms
- Letters or emails you have sent to us (including from our website enquiry forms) and
- Computer records to do with your use of any of the services provided by Robert Neil that you have used..
We can sometimes share information about you with other organisations such as the police, if this is necessary.
- To protect someone's best interests
- To follow the law
- To help to prevent or detect crime or
- In connection with legal proceedings.
We aim to keep your information as securely as possible. This means that we keep paper files in locked filing cabinets or offices, and that information we store on computer is password protected.
Seeing information we have about you
If you want to see the information we have about you, please try to tell us exactly what information you want to see. This will help us to provide you with a better service.
You must ask for the information in writing. We need to be sure of your identity so please send us a copy of your passport, driving license or other document showing your name and signature. Please also provide a recent bill showing your name and address.
We charge an administrative fee of £10 for processing your application. Please make your cheque payable to 'Robert Neil.'
We will send you a copy of the information we have as soon as possible, or arrange for you to come in to our office and see the information. We will provide the information within 40 days.
Normally, you can see all the information we have about you. However, there are some exceptions. These are mainly to do with preventing or detecting crime. We will not let you see information if part of it relates to another person who has not given their permission allowing us to share the information.
In some cases, you may not be able to see all health or medical information.
We will only delete or remove information if the law allows us to do this.
